Day 1Depart USASUN. USA - BOGOTA : Depart Miami, New York, Los Angeles or Washington DC for Bogota, Colombia. Meeting on arrival and transfer to hotel El Retiro (4 stars located in the Zona Rosa) (Other hotels available upon request)
Day 2BogotaMON. BOGOTA : Morning sightseeing tour of the Capital of Colombia. We will start by visiting the Colonial District located downtown where we find Bolivar Square, the Presidential Palace, House of Congress, Supreme Court of Justice. Then, onto the Gold Museum, which houses the world's greatest and most famous collection of gold. We will also visit Bolivar Villa, where Libertador lived occasionally. Afternoon at leisure -we highly recommend to visit the Botero museum. (B)
Day 3BogotaTUE. BOGOTA-ZIPAQUIRA'S UNDERGROUND SALT CATHEDRAL. : Leaving the city through the northern residential district, we take the Pan American Highway, passing some typical villages to reach Zipaquira where the Salt Cathedral is located. These salt deposits were formed 2 million years ago. The Cathedral is underground, built in a tunnel of salt mines, 200 meters inside a salt mountain. Curving and twisting tunnels descend into the Roman Catholic temple, passing 14 small chapels representing the stations of the cross, which illustrate the events of Jesus' last journey. Each station has several kneeing platforms carved into the salt structure. It is spectacular. (4 hours duration). (B)
Day 4BogotaWED. BOGOTA : Day at leisure to explore the city on your own or take an optional excursion to visit some of the coffee plantations or sorrounding colonial cities like Tunja and Villa Leyva. (B)
Day 5CALITHU. BOGOTA - CALI : Transfer to the airport for flight to Cali. Arrival and transfer to hotel Dann Carlton (5 star property) (B)
Day 6CALIFRI. CALI : Morning sightseeing tour of Cali. With a population of 2.5 million, Cali is the third largest city in the country. The principal urban, cultural, and economic site in southwestern Colombia, Cali has one of the fastest growing economies in the country due to its geographic location. The city was founded on 25 July 1536 by the Spanish conquistador Sebastian de Belalcazar. Your sightseeing tour will cover the most important sites in the old and modern Cali, visiting the residential areas of San Fernando and Santa Monica, the railroad stations with its beautiful mural paintings. Caicedo Square and Cathedral, up to Belarcazar Hill for view of the city. (B)
Day 7MedellinSAT. CALI-MEDELLIN : Transfer to the airport for flight to Medellin. Arrive in Medellin known as "City of Eternal Spring" and second largest city in Colombia and a city with great gastronomic, commercial and tourist offer....Medellin rises in the center of a valley and covers part of the mountains that surround it. Medellin today is a leader in finance, banking, services, art, culture, communication, fashion, health care, plastic surgeries and entertainment industries, the city is a true development axis. Day 8MedellinSUN. MEDELLIN : Medellin is in the Aburra Valley, one of the most northerly of the Andes Mountains in South America. As of 2012, it has a population of 2.7 million. With its surrounding area, the metropolitan area of Medellin , which includes nine other cities, it is the second largest urban agglomeration in Colombia in terms of population and economy, with more than 3.5 million people. Medellin was founded in 1616 by the Spaniard Francisco Herrera Campuzano as Poblado de San Lorenzo (Saint Lawrence Town) in present-day El Poblado.
This morning you will be visiting the most interesting places of Medellin, such as the "Pies Descalzos" Park, the square where you will find about 10 sculptures of Master Fernando Botero, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cerro Nutibara on top of which is a replica of a "paisa town, Avenida La Playa, Antioquia Museum , which houses the largest collection of works donated to the city of Medellin by Master Fernando Botero, Wishes Park, Botanical Garden, "Explora Park", City Administrative Sector "Alpujarra", Plaza de la Luz, EPM Public Library, Old Train Station, Exhibition Centre, Convention Center "Plaza Mayor", Metropolitan Theater, Residential Zone and Financial Town (Golden Mile).
Day 9CartagenaMON. MEDELLIN-CARTAGENA : Transfer to the airport for flight to the great colonial city of Cartagena. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Capilla del Mar (4 star hotel facing the ocean). (B)
Day 10CartagenaTUE. CARTAGENA : Morning tour of this beautiful colonial city. We start with the modern residential district of Bocagrande, continue to the highest hill in the city for a visit to the Monastery of La Popa and the panoramic view of Cartagena and its harbor. We will visit then "San Felipe de Barajas", an immense fortress built to defend the city against inland attacks. We continue to the "Gate of the Clock", main entrance to the old walled and beautiful city, where the Inquisition Palace and San Pedro Claver are located. (B)
Day 11CartagenaWED. CARTAGENA - ROSARIO ISLANDS : Today you will enjoy the beauty of Rosarios Islands and its beaches, an excursion to an spectacular coral reef and marine life. Depart in the morning for a 45-minute trip by speedboat. A tour guide will provide very valuable historical information about the bay, the outlying villages and the main entrance to Cartagena by sea. Upon arrival at the selected island (Isla del Pirata or Isla del Sol), you may appreciate the imposing beauty of the place and its ecological environment. A series of optional activities are offered, such as snorkeling, a panoramic tour of some of the 27 islands, transfer to the aquarium to enjoy dolphin and shark shows and different marine species (additional cost). Later on the island you will have an exquisite typical lunch and a few hours to enjoy its beaches. Mid-afternoon return to Cartagena by boat. (B,L)
